Assistant to project leader needed for regional SPJ conference

Are you passionate about journalism? Interested in learning tips of the trade from seasoned reporters and editors? Do you possess strong writing, communication, social media, and organizational skills? The Northern California Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists is seeking a volunteer to assist with our upcoming regional journalism conference, which will be held in San Francisco in the spring of 2015. The assistant will work with the all-volunteer board of SPJ to prepare communications materials, use social media to encourage media professionals to attend, and assist with registration efforts. In exchange, you’ll be granted free admission to the conference, including access to all workshops, talks, meals, and the opportunity to network with media professionals from throughout the region. The position requires a four-month commitment, and we’re looking for an assistant who can devote around 3 hours per week to this effort, with up to 6 hours per week in the weeks leading up to the conference. To apply, please send your resume and a brief letter describing your interest in journalism and how your experience fits with this role to spjnorcal@gmail.com.
