Oh, come off it, John. Our "monopoly media" journalists have been batoned, tear-gassed and held at the point of a shotgun in recent weeks - hardly kid-glove treatment - and I don't think you could find anyone in City Hall or OPD headquarters who believes we've given them "favorable coverage." We've had people arrested in past incidents, too. You're not doing journalism any favors by trying to drive this wedge into our community.

Thanks for your comment, John. Because of hurdles reported to us from independent journalists seeking press credentials from police, we sponsored a forum on media access in June.

Because the independent media are less likely to be manipulated by police and political power, they are more likely to be pushed around to prevent their coverage. Monopoly media get preferential treatment and access, to insure favorable coverage.

Madison Award Winner recipients Ashli Briggs and Alicia Lewis are being recognized for their dedication and investigative efforts surrounding fair fiscal openness throughout the California State University system. In addition, Senator Leland Yee Ph.D San Mateo was an integral voice in restructuring financial transparency in the California State University system and a positive supporter of Ashli and Alicia. You go girls !!

I feel this survey isn't an objective poll of sentiments on the subject. The first and last options are conspicuously extreme, with the former demonstrating only a dubious relationship to the opinion of Wikileak's ardent supporters. The "moderate" response, which is the only option not euphimised to a repellent point, has the selector throwing up his or her hands at the first hint of a backlash. People do have strong opinions on Wikileaks, but guaging those opinions by limiting participants to a choice between irrationality and passivity seems counter productive.

Whether you think what Wikileaks did was right or wrong, or put national security at risk, they can't be "traitors," because they're not Americans. I'd have liked this site to realize that fact, even if the language of this poll was a bit on the hyperbolic side. I'm really tired of all the blowhards going on and on about how Assange committed "treason." I expected better of SPJ.

This poll is a bit unbalanced stilted. There needs to be a possible response between I support what they do, and they are traitors. The way the poll is constructed makes it impossible to assess the range of opinions on this controversial issue.
